Somalia marks International Human Right Day

Somali civil society, human rights groups/activists and Somali National Union Journalist marked  the International Human Rights day in Mogadishu and in a number of Main Somali towns.

Organizers stressed the  importance of Human Rights, access to education and health, and protection of individual rights in the country.

Human rights day 2015 marks the launch of year long campiagn to celebrate the 50th anniversary of two oldest international  human rights treaties – the international covenant of civil and political rights and the interntional convenant of economic, social and cultural rights.

International Human Rights Day is a commemoration of the date in 1948 when the U.N. General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone document outlining basic international rights norms.
