Somalia President receives credentials from Denmark ambassador

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud received credentials from the newly-appointed Denmark ambassador to Somalia, Mss Mette Knudsen on Monday.
The President and the ambassador discussed the prospects of strengthening the bilateral relations, relevant international and regional issues.
During the ceremony, the ambassador stressed the deep relations between the two countries and Denmark’s stance towards the Somali crisis and the contribution Demark is making to restore peace to the country as well as Denmark’s contribution in providing aid to Somalia through European Union.
“It is a great day, i have handed over my credentials to the president of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and we will work together to strengthen the relations between the two countries” she said.
The ambassador also stressed that Denmark will implement developmental projects which play very important role in state rebuilding process.
President Mohamoud congratulated Ms Mss Mette Knudsen on the appointment and wished success in her diplomatic mission. He also thanked the Denmark government for supporting the Federal government and Somali people.
“On behalf of the Federal Republic of Somalia, I want to extend my strong appreciation to Denmark for its role in ensuring that Somalia’s situation was brought to the world’s attention.
Its support for and lobbying on behalf of Somalia has enabled us to make significant progress.
