Somaliland confirms three new coronavirus cases

Somaliland minister of health, Omar Ali Abdilahi in a press conference held in Hargeisa confirms three more coronavirus cases on Monday following another two cases of the Coronavirus previously announced leading the total number of cases to five since the first COVID 19 found in Somaliland territory on 26 March 2020.

The three patients tested positive for COVID-19 has no travel history so far they have been under institutional quarantine. The new cases found in Somaliland raised COVID 19 patients following health ministry announcement on public movement restriction last week.

One of the three patients that have tested positive leaves in Borama while the other two leaves in Hargeisa. A suspected COVID 19 who was an elderly man has died in Hargeisa. Somaliland health authority launched further investigations on the deceased whether he was positive.

Somaliland launched a public awareness program to combat coronavirus in all urban areas and rural areas last month. Ministry of health provided protection including mask and other materials to the communities leaving outside the capital Hargeisa.
