Somaliland congratulates Farmajo over his election

The breakaway Somaliland has welcomed the election of Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo as the president of Somalia.

The Somaliland presidential spokesperson Hussein Deyr  has extended President Mohamed Abdilahi Farmajo congratulations from the administration  and Citizens of Somaliland, on his victory during presidential elections in Mogadishu in which he won in the second round by defeating incumbent Mahmud Hasan and predecessor Sheikh Shariff.
“The government and People of Somaliland not only congratulate you on election as president of Somalia but wish you success as you embark he mandate of leading the Horn of Africa nation that had been beset by instability and civil war in the last quarter of century” said Deyr.

He said Somaliland’s main Priority is ensuring and sustaining peace and stability for the people of the two.

“We also want your people who are our brothers and sisters to obtain ultimate solutions for the existing and depressing chaotic situation in Somalia,” He said.

Somaliland, a breakaway region in northern Somalia has been pushing for self determination for the last 25 years.

Despite lacking international recognition, Somaliland considers itself as an independent state after it declared a unilateral independence from the rest of Somalia in 1991, employing its own government and army.
