Somaliland Political parties agree to hold parliamentary elections

Storyline:National News

Somaliland’s National political parties including Kulmiye Wadani and UCID party agreed on a new strategy of holding both local council and parliamentary elections in the country on Monday.

The parties’ chairpersons jointly announced the statement in Hargeisa, the capital of the self-declared state of Somaliland.

The three parties have agreed that the 2020 local city councils and House of Representatives elections will be held using the last Somaliland electoral law.

The agreement was signed by the President of Somaliland, who is also the Kulmiye party chairman Muse Bihi, and the opposition’s party leaders.

The disagreements among the Somaliland National parties caused multiple delays in the election of local councils, representatives, and the selection of Election Commission.
