Somoil and Gas deliveres the Exploration Programme data to Somali Federal Goverment

Soma Oil & Gas, the UK-registered oil and gas exploration company has today delivered the result of 41million dollars seismic offshore survey result to Somali Federal Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in colorful event attended by Somali Prime minister Omar Abdirashid.

The campany has been conducting the survey since 2013 in an area of 20,500 km2 after it had abtained a controversial concession from Somali Federal Government.

The findings of seismic survey is strictly confedential to the company and Somali Federal Goverment but  the company said it has identified specific prospects which merits further explorations “Soma’s analysis of the acquired and processed 2D seismic data has identified specific prospects which merit further exploration. The Company submitted Notice of Application to the Ministry for PSAs targeting these prospects” said in statement published its website

The Ministry of Petrolum has appointed Spectrum ASA which specializes seismic data processing and selling  to market this Exploration Programme data to International oil and gas campanies.

Meanwhile somali primier  praised the delievery of exploration findgs and hoped if substantiated could elevate many Somalis from the bottom of proverty “ even those who embrace the radical path and fight for Alshabab the prime factor that drives to extremism is hunger and the lack of adquate life” said the primier

Somalia believed as indicated in a number of studies to have plenty of unexploited natural resource that if employed  could transform the coutry to east-african economic powerhouse.
