South Africa: Armed thugs kill Somali businessmen and injure one

Armed thugs who were trying to rob a shop owned by Somali businessmen in Johannesburg killed one and injured another on Wednesday night.

“Three armed man attacked them in shop aiming to rob and in the process they fired multiple gunshots, which killed one of my brothers and wounded another,” said Asad Mahamoud, a relative in Mogadishu.

The businessman named Dahir Abdi was pronounced dead at the scene after he received two bullets on the chest while the other in hospital is in stable condition, the told Goobjoog News.

Police have not made arrests but said to be searching the culprits.

Xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals in South Africa including Somali nationals have been a common feature in the recent past.
