Storyline:National News

Afgooye district commissioner Abdiqani Yussuf and his deputy district district commissioner have been relieved of their duties barely two weeks after Al-Shabab overran town’s police station where the groups killed several soldiers.

Yussuf spoke to Goobjoog News said the firing was caused by differences between him and Interim Southwest administration.

” Government of Southwest has been exerting pressure on me as to admit what i really don’t know, since Al-Shabab’s attack on the town” said Yussuf.

He highlighted that during his tenure at the office, the security of the town was improved apart few incidents.

This comes after over 12 people were killed in fighting at police station in the market town of Afgooye.

Somali government forces and African Union peacekeepers repelled the pre-planned attack, hemming militants back into their hideouts.

Some of those killed were kidnapped from their homes, sources added.
