Southwest state regional assembly to elect speaker

The regional Assembly of Interim Southwest state is today expected elect the speaker of the assembly and his two deputies.

The preparations to elect the parliamentary leadership are widely felt in the state capital baidoa.

There are several candidates contesting for the coveted seats, the front runners in the election of the assembly speaker are Abdikadir Shariif Sheikhuna and Ali Hassan Osman.

While deputies are: Ibrahim Hassan Bulle, Mohamed Noor Moalim and Aweys Hussein.

Ministers from the federal government of Somalia, representatives from IGAD, UNSOM are all expected to preside over the election.

The south west regional assembly is composed of 145 members; the largest number of it is kind in the country.
