SouthWest state to launch militia disarmament operation in Bakool region

South west Minister of disbarment and rehabilitation of militias, Hassan Hussein on Monday said the administration will launch disarmament operations in Bakool region and called militias to hand over their weapons to the Southwest government

The minister announced the start of weapons disarmament programme after months of violence and civil unrest in the region.

“South west government gives first priority to the security and rebuilding the army as to get cohesive national forces. We launch operations to disarm the militias in the region and rehabilitate them as to mold them to be obedient civilians” he said.

He explained the importance of security to the people and urged the locals to collaborate with the security agencies so as to maintain the overall security of the state especially Adado.

Security analysts in Southwest state say that the Disarmament is a good solution. However, negotiations and even buying the weapons from its owners would help to avoid certain grievances
