Storyline:National News

Member countries of IGAD are expected to converge in Addis Ababa for a special meeting on the 12th June, 2017.

The meeting is largely focused on the political tribulations taking place in Southern Sudan.

It will be the 31st conference for IGAD organization which was announced by the Prime Minster of Ethiopia who is also the Chairman of IGAD Assembly of Heads of State to discuss the deepening security and humanitarian crisis.

The immediate neighbouring countries in the region bitterly complain about the large exodus of displaced people and the humanitarian crisis due to insecurity in South Sudan.

IGAD informs the warring parties in South Sudan to halt all hostilities and give chance to peace which mostly fall on deaf ears.

In 2016, South Sudanese President Salva Kiir sacked his vice president and rival Riek Machar which was the beginning of the long crisis for the five years old nation and the youngest state in Africa.
