Suicide bomber claims 13 lives, 15 injured in Police Academy attack

Medical sources have confirmed the death of 13 people most of them police officers and 15 others were injured when a suicide bomber detonated a suicide vest during a police rehearsals exercise at the police academy in Mogadishu.

An ambulance service doctor confirmed the casualties to Goobjoog News. “I can confirm to you that 13 people were killed and 15 injured. The bodies are lying in Medina hospital.”

The explosion which happened shortly after 7am local time came as the police officers in General Kaahiye Police Academy were on a morning parade in preparation for the December 20 Police Day celebrations.

Police spokesman Major Mohamed Hussein quoted by Reuters said the attacker  with explosives strapped to his body, infiltrated the General Kaahiye Police Training Academy and struck during a police parade.
