Three injured in UNDP office attack in Mogadishu
A car laden with explosives was detonated inside the headquarters of UNDP which is close Adan Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, injuring three guards, Somali police official have said.
Mohamed, a security officer who spoke to Goobjoog News said a car loaded with explosives went off inside the UNDP headquarter in Mogadishu.
“The blast, believed to be a homemade explosive device, went off inside the building, three security officers working with Duguf Enterprice Security Services (DESS) were injured,” Mohamed said.
The incident comes barely a day after over 20 people killed in suicide bombings near Mogadishu’s airport.
The assault, the latest in a series by the Islamist group targeting hotels and restaurants, began when a suicide bomber detonated a car laden with explosives outside the Peace Hotel.
Al-Shabaab lost their foothold in the capital in 2011 but continue their battle to overthrow the Somali government and launch regular attacks on military, government and civilian targets like hotels and restaurants in Mogadishu and elsewhere.
