Three killed in fighting between government forces and local fighters in Mogadishu

Fighting between Somali soldiers and local fighters loyal to residents of Zone-K locality who illegality built houses there, has left at least three people dead in the capital city, Mogadishu.

At least five others, including both soldiers and civilians, were wounded in the clashes on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses said that a gun battle erupted between the soldiers and the gunmen when some of the soldier tried to demolish Many illegal buildings.

“Some of the locals are among the fatalities,” said a witness who spoke to Goobjoog News.

Vicious powerful people and officials have been choking public and private land since the fall Somali government early 1990.

Mogadishu is experiencing construction boom and land value has significantly shot up and investors locally and from abroad are struggling to get a piece leading to rise of speculators and land brokers.

Somalia has been struggling to reconstitute its departments and get back many public properties which into the hands of powerful people who armed to teeth.
