Three people killed, 15 injured in suicide bomb attack in Beletwyene

Three people were killed and 15 others injured among them three journalists Sunday in a suicide bomb attack inside a hotel in  Beletweyne town, central Somalia, authorities have confirmed.

Hiiraan region governor Omar Adan Dekow told the media the attack claimed three lives when a suicide bomber blew himself up. “The suicide bomb blew himself up in the midst of people killing three people and injuring 15 others. Three journalists were among those injured,” said Dekow.

The attack happened inside a hotel near a security check in the regional headquarters, sources said.

Goobjoog News correspondent in Beletweyne said one of the journalists from Jubbaland TV was seriously injured and has since been transferred with others to an Amisom medical facility for treatment. The other two-one from SAAD TV and RTN sustained minor injuries and one of them has been released, the correspondent said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
