Three people killed in hand grenade explosions in Kismaayo town
At least three people have been killed and several others injured after two hand grenades hurled at a restaurant exploded, in Kismaayo of Lower Jubba region
According to a witness who spoke to Goobjoog News, the target was Somali government soldiers who were inside the restaurant.
A resident at the scene said that the hand grenades was thrown at the restaurant by unidentified people who immediately disappeared.
“Two masked men hurled the hand grenade at the place while soldiers were busy eating supper,” said the witness.
No group has yet claimed responsibility of the attack but Al-Shabaab group has previously claimed attacks in Afgooye and other towns in the country.
Security forces started search operation but nobody has arrested for the attack yet.
Security in the town of Kismaayo has been unstable since last year when Al-Shabaab attacked training in Kismaayo with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.
