Togdheer court orders 7 days detention for Goobjoog journalist

A regional court in Togdheer Saturday ruled that Goobjoog Television journalist arrested Thursday while following a story on corruption allegations in the region be held for seven days as prosecution concludes investigations.

The court acceded to the prayers of the prosecution to hold Mr. Hassan Handulle for seven days as it conducts investigations on charges leveled against him.

Mr. Handulle was arrested Thursday afternoon in Burco by local police while on assignment. The reporter was pursuing a story on graft allegations against Togdheer regional administration in Somaliland.

Goobjoog Media Group said it will issue a statement regarding the development.
