Town Council officer gunned down in Bardhere

Junior officer of Bardhere town council, Abdullahi Abdi Adan, has been shot dead by an unidentified people Saturday night in Bardhere town of southwestern Somalia

Adan, 40, was shot at when he was resting at his house in centre of the town at about 7 pm, Saturday.

Adan was immediately taken to Bardhere Hospital for treatment. However, he died on the way due to excessive bleeding.

Nearby Somali government soldiers arrived at the scene after a while and conducted a brief operation in the vicinity though they caught no one.

in August last year, Somali and African Union forces liberated the city of Baardheere that served as one of the strongholds of Al-Shabab fighters.

There are currently more than 22,000 AMISON forces in Somalia, which have been helping the government in its fight against Al-Shabab since 2007.
