Turkish gov’t donates medical aid to Somalia

Turkish Airline carrying medical aid landed at Aden Adde International Airpot in Mogadishu following the Turkish government pledged to support Somalia amid floods and COVID19 impacts in the country.

During a video conference organized by African Union to help the Horn of Africa nation on last Thursday, Turkish Foreign affairs Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu said his country will stand by Somalia.

“Turkish medical equipment has been a big boost for the country to curb the deadly virus” Somalia’s Minister for aid, Hamsa Said Hamsa said.

“The equipment will play a major role in the prevention and treatment of covid19 for the Somali community,” Minister of Health Fowsiyo Abikar Nur said on Saturday.

Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Mohamed Yilams said that the Turkish government stands with the Somali government and its people as the Turkish government commended its effort to prevent the disease.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Issa Awad thanked the Turkish government for its support to the Somali government during this difficult time.
