Twin Bomb explosion kills 5 people in Mogadishu

Twin explosions that have at least killed 5 people and injured more than 30 people have this early Saturday rocked Mogadishu.

The first explosion went off at around 9.30 am at the local time near the National Theater which is situated near the parliament headquarter. Sources said a vehicle loaded with explosives went off at a security checkpoint in the area.

At least 15 minutes later the second blast happened near the tomb of the Unknown Soldier after a man had parked the car and immediately followed by the second explosion.

Aid agencies have confirmed for Goobjoog News that at least 5 people were killed and more than 30 others were wounded in the deadly attacks.

Awil Dahir Salat a prominent journalist and TV presenter at Universal Television and three other of their staffs were among the people who died in the first car bomb at the entrance of the National Theater.

The explosions have shattered nearly a month of calm in Mogadishu, which is often the target of attacks by Al-Shabab.
