Two girls sexually assaulted in Afgoye, southwest Somalia

Two girls between the age of 4 and 6 have been brought Madina hospital after being abducted from their homes and brutally raped a few days ago in Afgoye town.

The girls who are close relatives were kidnapped while their families were away at a wedding ceremony, the girls were taken to a field leaving raped and left in the jungle. The following day farmers found them and informed Afgoye police station.

“The young girls sexually assaulted are in critical condition as we provided the best medical treatment and give good care we request the government to take action on the incident” Medina hospital chairman, Dr Mohamed Yusuf Hassan said.

The parent of the girls and Human right committee of the L.House parliament arrived at the hospital attributed the incident as a tragedy and requested the government security agencies to handle the cases.

“This incident was not rape but human rights abuses as I underline that the perpetrators want to make Somalia to a place where there is no humanity but we will capture” Minister of information of the federal government, Mohamed Abdi Mareye said.

On February 25, 2019, Aisha Eliyas was found dead in a northern suburb of Galkayo, where her body appeared to be severely tortured who went missing for hours and later found dumped.

On 11 February 2020, two men convicted of gang-raping and murder of 12 years old Aisha Aden have been executed in Bossaso Bari region.
