Storyline:National News

United States Representative for Somalia (SRS) James P. McAnulty congratulates the Federal  Government of Somalia (FGS) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) for the latest advances made by their soldiers during “Operation Indian Ocean.”

The liberation of Adale in Middle Shabelle on October 3 and Barawe in Lower Shabelle on October 6

delivered additional blows to the al-Shabaab terrorist group. These victories will allow Somali citizens living in these regions to enjoy freedoms that other Somalis already enjoy in cities, towns, and villages captured earlier from these extremists.

SRS McAnulty also extends congratulations to the Puntland State administration for the courageous and successful October 1 military operation to clear the Galgala Mountains of al-Shabaab militants.

Puntland State’s actions, combined with the joint SNA and AMISOM military campaign, will continue to weaken al-Shabaab and promote a more stable, secure, unified, and prosperous Somalia.

The United States remains fully committed to support the Federal Government of Somalia, the African Union, and Puntland State in their joint efforts to restore stability, prosperity, and quality governance in the newly-liberated areas. We look forward to additional military successes as joint Somali-AMISOM and Puntland security forces work tirelessly to liberate key towns and regions previously under al-Shabaab control to ensure a better life for all Somali people.

These operations and the sacrifices made by these soldiers on behalf of the Somali people will help to create a more positive future for all Somalis.
