UN Envoy reaches Baidoa to hold talks with South West over 2016 election

The leaders of South west state led by president Sharif Hassan have welcomed the arrival of the delegation led by UN envoy to Somalia, Michael Keating who arrived in Baidoa today.

The UN envoy is accompanied by ambassadors of UK, Uganda, Ethiopia and representatives from African Union and European Union.

Sources close to the administration of South West say the subject of the electoral model for 2016 is expected to be the focus the discussions between South west state and Keating.

This is Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Somalia (SRSG) Keating’s the first visit to Baidoa as UN Envoy.
