Storyline:National News

The number of COVID-19 cases in Somalia on Wednesday report Jumps to 580 as death remain 32 including 15 health workers while 54 more new cases tested positive for the last 24 hours.

On April 29th, the Federal government has distributed medical equipment to the regional state government including Southwest and Hirhsbelle as the government increases efforts to combat coronavirus infection and reduce the risk of the disease.

UN Agencies for Country Preparedness and Response Plan (CPRP) on 23 April requested over $698 million to provide a six-to-nine-month framework for humanitarian and development agencies to adapt their programmes to the changing context as well as scale-up interventions to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

The disease has disrupted Somalia economy and livelihoods leading high inflation of markets and movement restrictions causing a slowdown of business activity that hurt daily-wage earners and casual workers in the country.
