US halt funding World Health Organization (WHO)

US President Donald Trump has ordered his administration to suspend funding to the World Health Organization. He said World Health Organisation had failed its basic duty in response to the spread of coronavirus.

“Today I’m instructing my administration to halt funding of the World Health Organization while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,” Trump said at a White House press conference

The United States is the world’s largest recipient of World Health Organization funding. Last year awarded $ 400 million equivalent to 15% less than the total budget for the agency.

Trump has previously accused the World Health Organization agency of being “aligned with China and declared the international health agency made mistakes that “caused so much death” as the coronavirus spread across the globe.
