Veronique Lorenzo Thursday presented her credentials to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as the new EU ambassador to Somalia.

Lorenzo replaces immediate former envoy Michel CervoneDurso who served in the same capacity from 2012.

Prior to her appointment, she was the head of Unit Environment, Ecosystems, Biodiversity and Wildlife in the European Commission a position she assumed January 2016.

She has variously served in the European Commission since 2006 with an assignment as head of rural development in Uganda between 2006 and 2009.

She has a masters degree in Agricultural Economic and a bachelors degree in Economics.

Veronique has a wealth of knowledge and great experience in Food Security and Rural Development. She is an excellent supervisor and result oriented. She has a big, humble and carrying HEAR. Where ever she works, she is a great asset of the organization– Linkedin recommendation
