Villa Somalia backed aspirant Ali Guudlaawe elected HirShabelle president

Storyline:National News

Federal Government fronted candidate Ali Guudlaawe has been elected the new president of HirShabelle state in just concluded poll.

Guudlaawe garnered 86 votes against his only challenger Abdirahman Jimaale Osman who received 13 votes only. The immediate former Vice President was tipped to win following backing from the Federal Government.

His former boss Abdi Waare resigned last week accusing Villa Somalia of going against his will to postpone the elections. The election of Guudlaawe expands President Mohamed Farmaajo’s influence in the Federal Member States after he successfully pushed for the election of Abdiaziz Lafta Gareen in South West and Abdi Qooqoor in Galmudug.

The election of Vice President follows shortly. Former Hiiraan governor Yusuf Dabageed is battling with Mohamed Mohamud Abdulle for the seat.
