Assailants gun down elder in Qoryooley

A group of men shot and killed a clan elder  on Saturday night in Qoryooley town of Lower Shabelle region.

The clan leader identified as Haji Hassan is said to have been among the traditional elders who have played very important in the efforts to establish peace in the town.

Reports say that Hassan was heading to his house when the group of assailants attacked him.

He was hit by several gun shots. The attackers managed to flee and escape after the attack.

The elder succumbed to his injuries while on his way to hospital. The motive for the killing is still unknown and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The administration of Qoryooley  has condemned the killing of the elder.

The government officials in the district blamed Al-Shabaab fighter for being behind the killing of elder.
