Benaadir Regional Security Chief Survives Bomb Attack

The Security Chief of Benaadir Regional Administration Headquarters, Abdihafid Mohamed Hirsi, survived a bomb attack targeted at his residence in the Karaan District of Mogadishu.

The attack happened soon after the evening prayer. According to reports, the attack was carried out by several militants linked with the Shabaab group. The explosion gave rise to huge damage at the chief’s home.

It’s been confirmed that Abdihafid Mohamed Hirsi, his bodyguards, and all members of his family remained unharmed. No casualties reported as a result of the explosion.

Security forces, including police units and intelligence officers of the Benaadir Region, arrived at the scene. They cordoned off nearby roads and conducted security operations.

On account of the severe damage to the house, the security chief’s family were evacuated from the residence for safety.

Further more, Shabaab group claimed responsibility for the attack, signaling that it was aimed at a key security official of the Federal Government of Somalia.

The raid comes amid of a repeated security uncertainty in Mogadishu, especifically targeting officials of Benaadir Regional Administration, alarming growing security concerns among the residents of the capital, Mogadishu.
