Somali government reiterates that it will pay salaries

Somali prime minister, Hassan Ali Kheire has emphasized that his government will put more efforts in paying soldiers and civil servants amid government workers complain lack of payments for months.

Kheire has termed shame the habit to keep the salaries of the government workers.

“It is a shame and unacceptable to fail to pay the salaries, My government will fight against the rampant corruption,” said Kheire who speaking at the handing over ceremony held for ministry for Finance.

He said the government will make sure that the salaries of the government employees are paid.

The newly appointed Somali minister for finance, Abdirahman Bayle has taken the office on Saturday following handing over held at the ministry.

Bayle who was former foreign minister had led Somali’s presidential election body that organized and held the presidential poll that culminated the government of Farmaajo.

Somalia’s new cabinet recently appointed by Prime Minister Kheire was approved by the parliament.

Somali government is facing several challenges including drought and corruption that engulfed almost all departments of the government.
