High Court Expresses Refusal on the Impending federal seat election in HirShabelle State

The Chief Judge of the High Court is against the election for a seat in the federal Lower House scheduled to take place tomorrow in Jowhar town, Hirshabelle State.

Source privy to the matter exclusively informed Goobjoog News that the Chief Judge has expressed his refusal on the matter saying categorically that the electoral body has no right to conduct the election and the vacant seat cannot be contended for persons who have been candidates earlier as stipulated on Article 59 of the Constitution.

On the other hand, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) responded to the announcement of the Chief Judge claiming that the Judge has no jurisdiction to voice his concern on the matter since the election will be conducted under the “Indirect Election” rules.

Nearly 6 contenders are vying for the vacant seat that was vacated by former MP Mohamed Ali Sanbaloloshe when he was appointed as head of the NISA on April 2017.
