Fracas break out in Hirshabelle Parliament as one more senator elected

GOOBJOOG NEWS|JOWHAR: Chaos erupted in Hirshabelle Parliament as senate elections were underway Saturday night disrupting the voting exercise.    The fracas led to the cutting off of live tv coverage with some members turning  off the lights immediately vote counting ended. Sources said the chaos erupted after President Ali Gudlawe’s ally, Ali Sha’ban was defeated in the race.  Ali Shabaan Ibrahim, Abdulqadir Hanafi Sheikh Bashir, Abdullahi Ahmed Tawad, Asha Hussein Abukar and Abdalle Abdi Hussein were some of the contenders of the Upper House seats.  Hirshabelle Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Siraaji Sheikh Ishaq has said the truant lawmakers will face a disciplinary commission as they had no reason to disrupt the exercise.  The Hirshabelle polls saw the election of Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali Afcadey who is allied to the Himilo Qaran party. Afa’adey received a total of 52 votes flooring his opponent, Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman who has held the seat for the past four years. He got 44 votes.  Colonel Afa’adey has served as Commander of the Somali Presidential Guard and has also held other senior positions in the Somali Armed Forces.
