Afgooye administration says it will tighten security of the town a day after deadly attack

The administration of Afgooye town said on Saturday that it plans to tighten the overall security of the town barely a day after Al-Shabaab fighters raided the town.

Abdinasir Alin, the district commissioner has confirmed the operations conducted in the town by the soldiers saying that the forces arrested over ten suspected people as investigations are underway.

The DC said the administration plans to carry out security measures to enhance security of the town.

“The administration plans to carry out security measure to enhance security of the country by carrying out security operations,” said Alin.

The move comes two days after Al Shabaab which has been carrying out a series of deadly attacks in the country raided Afgooye town, killing three people including army officials.

The town has seen spate of deadly attacks, including roadside bomb and suicide car blasts since Al-Shababb pulled out of the town.

Afgoye is an agricultural and strategic town located only 30 kilometres southwest of the Somali capital Mogadishu, which was once under Al-Shabaab control.
