African Union Commission Chairperson “to follow up the situation between Kenya and Somalia”

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat stated following political conflict between Kenya and Somalia.

Somalia accused Kenya government of interfering its politics and security under the name of AMISOM instead of fulfilling African Union Mission in Somalia and following relevant AU instruments and principles.

The Chairperson of the Commission appeals to all stakeholders to exercise calm and utmost restraint and encourages the two countries to resolve their differences through dialogue.

President Farmajo and President Uhuru Kenyatta spoke over the phone and discussed the importance of working jointly to find a solution on boundary security and overall regional stability on Thursday last weeks.

Tensions erupted this week on Monday after SNA and Jubbaland forces fought near Mandera in Bula-Hawo on the border with Kenya leading one person dead and 12 people injured by a straight pullet.
