Ahlu-Sunah elected Sheikh Mohamed Shakir as a new president of Galmudug

Ahlu-Sunah Waljama’a parliament has elected Sheikh Mohamed Shakir as a new president of Galmudug state in the capital Galmudug of Dhusamareb on Wednesday afternoon.

The election took place at Inji the headquarter of Ahlu-Sunah, where 74 Ahlu-Sunah members of the parliament voted to Sheikh Shakir as a president of Galmudug state after his rival candidate quitted their positions of contesting in Galmudug.

However, the general Galmudug election scheduled to take place on Thursday, Galmudug parliamentarians supported by the federal government have today listened the speeches of Galmudug presidential and vice president candidates.

On the other hand, the opposition presidential candidates including Abdirahman Odowa, Kamal Guutaale, Abdi Dhere, and Abdullahi Farah Weheliye requested two weeks extension to the election date claiming of the scarcity of campaign period.
