Ahlu Sunnah re arrests Journalists

The armed group controlling parts of Galgadud have re arrested 6 journalists who were released yesterday by the group.

The journalists were out yesterday after the mediation by local elders, who requested they be freed on bail before they could appear before a court of law. On their release yesterday one of the journalists was admitted to the hospital after he has fallen ill in the jail.

The decision to put journalist behind bars again is not clear, but sources say the group wants to impose the media their own version of story line.

Somali national union of journalists and information ministry has condemned the move by the group and urged to free the journalist.

Female Journalist

Among the arrested journalist is Nafiso Ogle, the only female station director in the region. Speaking to Goobjoog News months ago, she spoke of her passion in the media and her daily struggle to run a radio station within a conflict zone.

Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamah, previously supporting the government has in recent months rebelled and staged bloody wars against the government forces to capture key towns, they have since declared self proclaimed regional state in Dhusamareb.

They also denounced the newly formed Galmudug state.
