Al-Shabaab fighters ambush Hiiran governor convoy in Hiiran region

Reports from Hiran region are indicating that Al-Shabaab militants ambushed a convoy with the governor of Hiiran Yusuf Dabageed.

Goobjoog News correspondent in Hiiran said that the convoy lead by Hiiran Governor were heading to Mahas district which is about 30km from Beledweyn town the headquater of Hiraan region.

A heavy clash between the governor’s security forces and Al-Shabaab fighters broke out after Al-Shabaab fighters attacked the convoy.

Yusuf Dabaged the governor of Hiran region and his delegation have safely arrived Mahas district.

“The battle lasted for about an hour claiming two civilians. We cannot know the casualties on both sides,” the source said.
