Al-Shabaab Fires Mortar Rounds On Ethipian military Base in central Somalia

Al-Shabaab fighters have fired mortar rounds at a military base belonging to Ethiopia under African Union peacekeeping troops in Somalia (AMISOM) in central Somalia, residents said.

A resident in El Ali area who asked not be named, said  that Al-shabaab group attacked the base with motor shells last night.

“Al-Shabaab attacked the AU military base Friday last night, but we know nothing about the casualties on the troops,” said the residents.

The Somali official said some of the mortar rounds have landed into the Ethiopian army base, and caused unspecified number of casualty on the AU soldiers in central Somalia.

Al-Shabaab did not comment on the mortar attack.
