At least 10 people were killed and three others were hurt when Al-Shabaab attacked a guest house in Mogadishu that was being used to treat Somalian local progovernment fighters who had been wounded in offensive operations against Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan.
Al-Shabaab rebels stormed a residence in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Tuesday, killing ten civilians, said the government.
The battle began with an explosion, then there was gunfire, and the battle lasted for hours.
At least four militants were shot by Somali security forces, and the scene was then made safe. During the operation, four Somali security forces were hurt.
“Khawaarij militants targeted civilians in a residential area in Abdiaziz district, Mogadishu; 10 people were killed and three others injured, and Somali police killed four militants in the sight,” said the statement issued by the Somali government.
Al-Shabaab claimed they were behind the attack and that they were going after pro-government militias who lived in the house.
Somalia led the offensive operation to get Al-Shabaab out of Somalia and asked frontline states for military help to end it.
