Al-Shabaab says it killed over fifty KDF soldiers in Kulbiyow

Al-Shabaab has claimed to have over fifty Kenya soldiers after the group dawn attack on attacked a remote military base in Somalia on Thursday.

The attack which happened at KDF military base in Kulbiyow villages of Southern Somalia comes just a year Al-Shabaab over ran military base in El-Adde town.

Al-Shabaab claimed it had killed 51 of Kenyan soldiers after its fighter launch onslaught which suicides bombs that hit the gates of the base.

The group’s military spokesman, Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab said the fighters rammed suicide car bombs into the base before storming it.

“Our fighters ran over the military base military manned by Kenya military, we initial reports from our fighters indicate fifty one of Kenyan soldiers,” Abu Musab told Al-Shabaab radio Andulus.

Goobjoog News could no independently verify the allegations.

The claim by Al-Shabaab has been denied by Kenyan military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Paul Njuguna who spoke Reuters.

“That is false, the operation is ongoing. We are receiving updates,” said Njuguna.

In January 2016, Al-Shabaab attacked Kenyan military based in e in El Adde where the group claimed to have killed over 100 soldiers.

The Kenyan military never gave details of casualties.
