Al-Shabab attacked SNA base in Bufow locality, several soldiers killed

Several Somali national Army have been killed after Al-Shabab fighters attacked SNA military base in Bufow locality of Bufow.

Heavy gunfire was reported for several hours, with Al-Shabab taking over the camp and killing some of SNA soldiers including a commander before looting supplies, witnesses said.

Al-Shabab fighters are said to have attacked the base from different direction prompting hours of fighting.

Sources in Bufow, say that the group seized technical vehicle and other military asserts.

Al-Shabab, which wants to depose Somali government in Mogadishu, has in the past stepped up the number of raids during the holy month of Ramadan, which began in mid-June and ends this week.
The group also retake Marka town that one used to be the largest stronghold for Al-Shabab’s top officials and its foreign jihadist fighters before they fled after heavy military assault by the Somali government forces and the African Union mission in Somalia [AMISOM].
