Ambassador Hotel attack death toll passes thirty and more than sixty wounded

Thirty people confirmed dead including two Somali Federal law makers and more than sixty wounded in yesterday evening Ambassador Hotel attack.

A car laden with heavy explosives rammed into Ambassodor hotel followed storm by Alshabab fighters. At least five Alshabab fighters confirmed to have involved in the attack. Alshabab fighters claimed the responsibility of the attack.

Clashes between Somali security forces and Alshabab fighters who managed to enter the Hotel continued at least 13hours.

Somali president Hassan Mahmoud, Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid and the UN envoy to Somali Michaela Keating condemned the Hotel attack.

The two law makers, Abdullahi Jama and Mahmud Gure said to be among the most highly educated MPs in the Federal parliament.

Somali president “The aim of this savage attack is to create fear in the hearts of public so that will be dispirited to support the government and that will never happen” said Somali president.

Yesterday Alshabab commander who masterminded Garissa University attack killed in raid by Somali commandos and his body displayed to the media.
