At least 28 injured in Elite Hotel attack-medical sources

Medical sources in Mogadishu have put the number of those injured in the ongoing Elite Hotel attack at 28 amid fears the number could rise as the militants have reportedly made way into the building.

Aamin Ambulance said it had a count of 28 injured but did not indicate any deaths. There are unconfirmed reports a senior official in the Ministry of Information has been killed in the attack.

Pictures from the vicinity show civilians carrying the casualties to vehicles to be ferried to hospital. Initial reports indicate a vehicle loaded with explosives rammed into the entrance of the posh hotel followed by another one carrying the attackers.

No group has since claimed responsibility but Al-Shabaab has been known to conduct such attacks.
