GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Special Envoy of the Chairperson of the African Union Council and Head of the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), Ambassador Mohamed Al-Amin Souef, has congratulated the Somali National Army for its concerted efforts to liberate Somalia from Al-Shabaab.

Souef noted the SNA’s triumphant conquest of the towns of Eeldheer, Harardheere, Gal’cad, and Hiindheere in Galmudug’s Galgaduud and Mudug regions, towns that had been under AlShabaab’s control for more than a decade.

The Special Envoy also pledged ATMIS’ full support to Somalia in its fight against the terrorist group that has vowed to topple the central government. “The ATMIS mission will continue to provide the support needed to achieve a Somalia free from terrorism and related activities,” said Ambassador Souef.

“Al-Shabaab has been defeated, and we are supporting our Somali brothers. We will continue to remove the terrorists from Somalia so that the people can obtain security, stability, and peace, which are important for social and economic development,” added Ambassador Souef.
