GOOBJOOG NEWS|BOSASO: Clan elders in Bosaso have called for the reinstatement of sacked Puntland Security Forces (P{SF) boss Mohamed Diano vacating an earlier position accepting his removal from office.

The elders who had been meeting in the coastal city urged President Abdullahi Deni to rescind his decision to fire Diano in what is likely to lengthen the prospects of settling the long-running tussle between the two sides.

Deni sacked Diano on November 24 sparking a stand-off that has persisted to date. Mohamed who took over from his elder brother Assad Diano in January 2018 as head of PSF refused to leave office and has been leading a faction of PSF which remained loyal to him. Part of the force is allied to General Amin Abdullahi Haji Kheir who was picked by Deni.

Clan elders in the area had in December acceded to the sacking of Diano but on condition, he retains some weapons and the house he has been living in as commander. However, Deni rejected the offer noting the property belonged to PSF and not an individual.

The elders also demanded that the UAE ports operator P&O Ports’ concession be terminated and that Bosaso city be allocated 17% of the revenue.
