Breaking News: Southwest State Assembly gets new parliament speaker

Southwest parliament has elected new speaker who will replace the acting speaker who selected last month after the house member were sworn.

Abdikadir Shariif Sheikhuna won the speaker´s post in vote by Southwest legislators in Baidoa Sunday.

The new speaker managed to win the election in first round by grabbing 109 votes followed by Ali Hassan who managed votes 33 votes.

Speaking after the result was announced, the new speaker promised to serve Southwest people with diligent, determination and sincerity.
The MPs are also scheduled to elect two deputy parliament speakers in the coming hours.
