Two people have been injured following an explosion Sunday morning near Rowda mosque in Shibis district.
“There has been an explosion near Rowda Mosque in Shibis district which injured two people including the driver of the car” Goobjoog News reporter who reached the scene said.
According to police officer Abdiasiis Jama, Al-Shabaab militants are suspected to have planted explosives in the car.
“So far, we have no more details, but we will try to get more information. We heard that one of the two government officials inside the car was badly injured,” Jama said.
Sources at the scene said the car which was passing near a place with many business centres exploded at about 7am injuring two people with one seriously wounded and destroyed immense amount of properties.
The loud explosion startled many residents who gathered around the vehicle shortly after the incident.
