GOOBJOOG NEWS|DHUSAMAREB: Relative calm returned in Dhusamareb after government forces wrestled control of the city from Ahlu Sunna Wal’Jamaa (ASWJ)  fighters that overrun the town on Friday.

Government troops reportedly captured several Ahlu Sunna fighters and vehicles in addition to seizing the group’s base at Bohol area on the outskirts of Dhusamareb.

Several people, including army officials were reportedly killed in the attack that took place between ASWJ and Galmudug forces backed by SNA in Dhusamareb, while the state’s President Ahmed Qoorqoor was away in Mogadishu.

Speaking to the media, a military official from Galmudug said that troops killed several members of the group after a foiled attack on army bases in Dhusamareb.

Today morning, residents who had fled the town have started trickling in, despite fears that another fight could break out soon after the group is reported to have said ‘change’ must also happen in Galmudug on May 15 during the Presidential Elections.
