China donates $4m worth aid supplies for Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS: MOGADISHU: The Chinese embassy in Mogadishu yesterday donates a new batch of humanitarian supplies worth more than $4 million handed over by the Chinese Embassy to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management. The supplies include 10k tents, 50k mosquito nets, 20k aid kits and thousands of health equipment for Somalis in need.   The Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Fei Shengchao and Somalia’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management- Hon. Khadija Diriye attended the handover ceremony where 10k tents, 50k mosquito nets, 20k aid kits and thousands of health equipment were handed to the Somali government.  In his address at the handover ceremony,  Fei Shengchao quoted a Chinese saying in his address at the ceremony: “when disaster strikes, help comes from all sides”. China never forgets the sufferings of our brothers and sisters in Somalia,” said Shengchao.  China said it adopts a people-centered approach for a new stage of balanced, coordinated and inclusive growth, as stated in Chinese President Xi Jinping’s proposal of Global Development Initiative at the 76th Session of the UNGA. The key message being ‘leaving no country and no one behind’.   China and Somalia boast of long lasting ties dating back centuries with the two countries standing with and for each other during times of need and plenty.
