Corruption labeled against Galmudug Drought Emergency Committee

Accusation of malpractice of funds for emergency drought has been raised against the Galmudug Drought Emergency Committee.
This came into light during a meeting between Galmudug State Administration and traditional elders in Galgaduud region.

The corruption allegation is based on Galgaduud region missing out on the drought allocation fund meant for them.
Affected people living in Galinsoor location has never received emergency fund since the distribution of funds by the National Emergency Drought Committee that were collected from the Somalia people and disbursed equally to every region in the country through regional Drought Emergency Committee.

The Commissioner of Galinsoor location Hirsi Muse Mohamed who spoke in the meeting said they never received emergency fund given to the other areas due to corruption.

“I make clear in this juncture as the Commissioner of Galinsoor location that we never got our share of the drought fund allocated to Galmudug State” he said.

Sultan Mohamud Ereg who is one of the traditional elders of Galinsoor has requested from the top official of Gal Mudug as well as the Federal Government to give them their share in the drought assistance fund intended for affected people living in Galinsoor and it’s surrounding.
“We request the Gal Mudug and the Federal Government to pinpoint out the share for Galinsoor. We have rights. We are residents of Gal Mudug and we shall never accept our share to be misappropriated” said Sultan Mohamud.
